Decorating house...?

Hi...

My parents haven't really been into decorating the house all my life. I don't think they've ever had the time or money. I'm fourteen now, and we're having a family reunion in a few weeks...and our house looks horrible!! I need some easy and cheap ideas on what I can do to to help it seem more appealing. Everything is just ordinary. I've gotten just a few fake flowers...I've placed them in some places and boy that sure made a difference! Everything is so dull and depressing lol. I need some tips on ANYTHING you can give me!! Bathroom, outside, living room, dinning room and kitchen!! I also got my mom into buying some real flowers for the yard today...my dad actually sprayed down some weed killer today! The bathroom is small, white walls and burgendy carpet...like the rest of the house. I'm running out of character's so...anything anyone has got in mind...please reply. Anything helps! Thanks!

A good cleaning can go a long way toward making a house look good. Pay attention to the areas around door knobs and light switches. Vacuum the carpets. If you have curtains that can be washed or blinds that can be cleaned, that makes things look better. Fresh towels brighten up a bathroom. So does a new shower curtain. You might be able to get new ones on sale. How does the furniture look? New throw pillows can help there. Get rid of clutter laying around, and dust shelves and lampshades. If the lampshades are dingy, new ones make a big difference. Shop at places like Target or Walmart. Their stuff is pretty cheap. Just remember, your family is coming to see you, not your house! Don't worry too much about it. Good luck!
Reply:You can also find great bargains on home decor items at your local thrift shop. Some inexpensive artwork %26amp; candles can perk things up too.
Reply:Try to check this website. Decorate your house with ethnic decor. The most popular presently. www.ethnic-decor.com.

Happy looking.....
Reply:I don't know if to what extent you are wanting to decorate, but a good paint on the walls can make any room look better, its not that expensive and will make a big difference. White walls always seem boring, otherwise get new crown molding or border.

If you cant paint or add anything to the walls try simple decorations, get new curtains or buy cheap fabric and make some, get a cheap valance. get some fake flowers on a vine and drape them over the tv center and any mounted shelves.

Get a few patterned pillows for the couch and chairs in the living room.

In the kitchen, new curtains(which just means new to you, local second hand stores are always good), a center piece for the kitchen table, new handles on the cupboards.

Bathroom, curtains, shower curtains, candles and flowers around the sink.

Outside just make sure there is places to sit and relax and make sure your lawn is mowed.

Hope this helps some.
