I want to decorate my boy's room?

I would like to do so with a relatively small budget. He is 3 years old.

For my daughters room we bought light blue paint (it was oops paint, so it was cheap) and painted the walls blue. I am in the process of painting blades of grass around the room. I will paint flowers growing around the room too. THere are some giant wire and nylon butterflies hanging from the ceiling. (It is cute.)

I would like to think of something like this for my boy, but I cant paint very well. Does anyone have suggestions- or better yet photos?

He loves Cars, but I worry it will be out of "style" in a year. It is also expensive to buy too many accessories.

Any ideas are welcome. Thanks!

I want to decorate my boy's room?
My two boys are 1 and 2. they have the car theme. We put up a striped border from walmart which was on sale for 4 dollars a roll. It took 2 rolls to do their room. We have them in matching blue toddler beds. We put a toy box that had police cars, fire trucks, mostly any car you can think of on it. Then we have more to work with. We can switch bed stuff to any car, or anything that has wheels. We bought a calender that had pictures of really nice looking cars on it and put it above the toy box. You can also find a picture on the Internet of a stop sign and draw it or print it off. And put that up on his wall. Than you could also get a small traffic light. With cars it can be endless.

My mom told me I should just stick with primary colors so that way everything matches. But I wanted something more boyish.

You can do a sports theme. I think that would be fun. My kids are really into cars and trains. Something I thought about doing was a fish theme. You can get these fish tanks called bubbles that hold one small fish, without any wires or anything, and then painting different shades of blue on the wall, for water the deeper you are the darker it would be. And then have some paste of fish that you would put in your bath room on the wall, its like he is in his own little underwater world. That would be fun. If you want anymore ideas email me sarah_johnson45013@yahoo.com I love doing stuff like this. Good luck!
Reply:I can tell you anything you do in a basic car or transportation theme will last I while. My son is seven and still loves cars. We thought of putting trains and cars on the wall but he is now sharing a room with a twelve year old so that isn't going to work with both boys. The simple designs will work for him. Trace it onto the wall with a light pencil. Then paint it on. You could also put a road or some easy scenery around it. Like a tree and simple birds or something of you wanted more details.
Reply:Brick is really easy to do with a sponge. You could make the walls look like castle walls. Is he into knights and dragons at all?

If you want to do cars, you could paint the bottom half green, the top half light blue, and paint a black strip of "road" between them. You could make curtains out of black and white checked material. He could still have Cars stuff, but more of a generic car room.
