Do you have pictures on your walls or those canvas things?

I was having a look through the Argos book today, and i have to say that i think the fashions are really horrible. You cant seem to buy nice quality pictures anymore. Its all those canvas things now, with a flower on it, or circles and lines.





Even the lighting has gone all modern. I have got chandeliers in my lounge and dining room, but many of my neighbours have these chrome wiry things on their ceilings. I think they look horrid.





What are you preferences and why?

Got some absolutely lush canvas print/picture things done 20x24 from normal 10x8 photo's they're pretty damn cool
Reply:Well, basically people like modern decorating right now. I do too. All the paintings these days look even nicer. I like abstract pictures/ The only place a cahndalier would look good in is the dining room, but I actually like modern lgihting.
Reply:I have a lot of architectural pictures and large mirrors. I found the pictures in a auction house, they had come from a posh hotel refurbishment. The most expensive one cost £20 and is worth over £300 because it turned out to be a rare drawing.


Most only cost a fiver though, you couldn't get them framed for that, never mind buy the print as well.


They also disposed of the hotel lighting, all top quality picked up for pennies.


I use a lot of plants to soften the room and create a warm ambiance. I like it and people always say how good it looks and it was done cheaply.

In deference to our very great age - they ARE in nice matching frames.




















Okay, the frames are black tubular plastic things, but we like 'em.











Snuck in the corner is a canvas of a stone stairwell with flowers and an almost, but not quite, hidden doorway under the aforementioned stairs... my most favourite picture in the house!
Reply:There are more options besides photographs and canvas transfers. Try mirrors with unusual and beautiful frames, or maybe some iron wall scrolls, chinese antique wooden shutters or put up shelves and decorate your heart out with nik naks!
Reply:Whatever takes your fancy, i have a few nice pictures on the wall in frames, and yes they are hard to find theses days, i also have some of the canvas ones, whatever you like buy it if not keep searching, everyone has different tastes!
Reply:Mine is rather eclectic; i have canvas prints of the wizard of oz, and also framed prints of friends and family. I just surround myself with things that i love and sod what anyone else thinks! If you like something then go for it - magazines can give you some great ideas but they do not and should not define what people like.

Reply:I like to buy the canvas things and then frame them myself using home baked chandeliers bought from the ceiling %26amp; chrome shop located in East Argos.





It is extremely important to get your lighting and quality of location in the lounge/dining room just nice. Spot on horrible if you don't as your neighbours will think your fashion is all lines and circles craap and probably think your abit of a horrible wiry modern nerd.
Reply:i have 3 canvas pics as they go with the colours of my room, and i also have a lots of photos in frames. i have also got a collage of lots of different photos in 1 big frame.........
Reply:I've just had the problem of trying to find something nice to put on my lounge walls. In the end I found something at the AllPosters.co.uk web site. They also frame stuff for you. The choice of prints is endless and service that they provided was brilliant. I'd recommend them every time.

Have a look at their site by clicking on the link above. Those canvas pictures are ok, but they are the 'now' fashion and will probably soon become dated. My opinion would be to find a classical print that will remain timeless. After all you've got to live with it day in day out, you don't want something that you will soon tire of.
