I'm decorating on a tight budget...any tips?

I'm redecorating a room, and I have a bed with two matching dressers from the sixties and a bedspread that I have to work with. The bedspread is white with pale green and grayish-purple ornate looking swirls (like what you would see on a wrought-iron hook). The floors are wood, and the walls are a pale green. I'm not going to paint the walls.

I'd like to add plants, fake flowers, and valances or curtains on two windows, and I'd like the room to remind you of an ornate garden. However, I don't want to spend more than $100, less if possible. If you have any money saving tips or just ideas in general, I could use them. Thank you in advance.

You can find great things at dollar stores, junk stores, yard sales, Goodwill, etc. Also, try redoing stuff you already have. Go to the remnant section of a fabric store for cheaper fabric and just cover pillows you already have. Try to spend the money on the things that will make the most difference. Important stuff: bedspread, rug, window treatments. Have fun! Also, go shopping around the house. Sometimes changing the room something is in gives it a whole new personality!
Reply:I can find anything I want in thrift stores, yard sales, church sales, we live in a throwaway society and it helps us little starter outers big time. try grandma she has more than she knows what to do with, she will load you down!!!!!!!She will love to see her things in your room. Good luck
Reply:The success of any decorating scheme depends on how well it suits all the members of your family. To create a décor that you will be happy with, think about what you want and also what you don’t want.

It’s a good idea to know what you have before you begun to change things. As you begin to pull your design ideas together, think about your preference and what will work in your home.

Color can work wonders... it can change the look of a room and change your feeling about the room. You can start by looking through magazines, and catalogs. Give yourself plenty of time, it will take longer than you think, and your ideas will develop as you go.

Gathering samples is a great way to begin. If you are starting with a color, your samples might include fabric, paint chips, wallpaper, carpet, wood, stone, and tile.

Knowing what you can spend on a project will give you a clearer idea of what you can achieve. If you’ll on a limited budget, mark off those things that will make the most difference, such as a new wall color and a new sofa.

You can set the mood of a room in lots of ways, such as lights, and furnishings. There are no hard or fast rules or must-do sequence for this process.

Reply:go garage saling!! the best time is friday morning! you can find great deals there and if you really like something and it seems high (even a picture for $10 at a garage sale can be high) ask if they will go lower. they usually will. have fun!! or try savers or goodwill.
Reply:check out your local fleamarket for great finds. You may find a wrought iron grillwork that can go on the wall over your headboard. This would look nice with some foliage arranged into it.

You may also use some brightly-colored botanical printed fabric for the curtains.

Place a botanical print (which you may download and print from your computer) between 2 thin pieces of clear glass and use a wide masking tape to seal the edges.
Reply:Try IKEA. They have a lot of cool stuff that is reasonable, as well as Target. I would suggest no fake plants, Ikea also has plants at a VERY cheap price.
