Can anyone remember their living room in the 70s?

I was a kid and I can remember chocolate brown skirting boards and doors with orange and yellow flowered wallpaper, I also remember we had pictures on the walls of crying children! ugh! it was trendy at the time I believe..

Can anyone remember their living room in the 70s?
We had one chocolate wall, one wallpapered with a plain brown and the other with mental swirly patterns. Swirly brown carpet. We had a Laurel and Hardy mirror, a large clock in the shape of a wrist watch

Our kitchen was orange, hall was bright blue, sister's room was purple.... thank you for reminding me x
Reply:Anyone who lived through the home decor of the 70's will never forget those burned-in images, try as we might.

Green/gold shag carpet. Dark "fake wood" paneling. The floor-to-ceiling lamp that you adjusted like a shower rod to keep from falling over. Big furniture looking TV with lots of wood and folding shutter doors. Naugahyde couch (how many Naugas gave their lives to make it?).

Pictures on the wall was a complete set of "Dogs Playing Cards".

And we won't even start on the Avocado and Harvest Gold kitchen appliances, or the bathroom wallpaper that looked like newspaper ads (plus the fuzzy covers on the toilet lids).
Reply:we had one wall, (the one with the chinmey breast) covered in an orange and brown patterned wallpaper. A few years ago I saw the exact same paper in a magazine. We didn't have the crying children but my auntie did in her bedroom, frightning!

edit: when I was very young we had that black and orange settee too. Mine and my mum's hair used to get caught in the buttons :(
Reply:I not only remember it, I'm living in it. Most of my furniture are family antiques I've always known. No crying kids on my walls. I paint in a goth format and hang photos that I've heavily Photoshopped. Still looking for one of those 70's egg chairs, if you have one in the attic, let me know. RScott
Reply:My nan still has pictuers of crying children on her walls, lmao i know what u mean!!

This was the 90's not the 70's but we had just moved in and it wasnt decorated for 20 years, our kicthen had yellow cupboards and yellow flowers wallpaper and matching yellow flower plates and cups.... and tea towels... tea pot... tea cosy.. bread bin... LOL... everything had yellow flowers on
Reply:No i wasnt alive.

Although my nan and grandads house was stuck in the 70's and they had a burnt orange leather sofa, with green carpet and yellow and gold patterned wall paper that hurt your eyes to stare at..... and loads of pictures of me on ponies ahhhhhhhh.

I miss them :o(
Reply:Yes, I had a brown Draylon Chesterfield suite. I really hate brown now. The carpet was a dusty pink and the curtains were a dusty pink small floral design. I still had John Constable prints and dark antique style furniture. It sounds horrible now.
Reply:YES, black vinyl 3 pc:suite with bright orange cushions,no fitted carpet just black tiles with a big flowery rug and framed family photo's every,where......YUCK!!!!
Reply:Being that I was born in 1981. I think my living room in the 1970's was a horny thought from my Dad or the confines of a sperm egg.
Reply:I was born in 1962 so I can see the entire house in my mind as clearly as if I saw it just yesterday and I haven't lived in that house since I was 17. Man I miss the 70's.
Reply:I was born in 1970. We had long, orange shag carpet and dark wood panelling. The kitchen had puke green appliances and decals all over the cabinet doors.

We were cool.
