I just got a mural done and I want to add some stuff myself....?

I would like to add some small flowers and fairies, I have a couple questions. Do I use acyrlic paint? Also i'm not an artist, where can I find cut outs where I can just trace on the wall? I want them to be like 5-6 inches no bigger, something simple that anyone can do.

you could use acrylic paint and you could find cutouts at any craft and home improvment stores like Micheals, garden ridge, and hobby lobby
Reply:that's a fool's errand child, don't mess with a finished product.
Reply:I know you must have some good ideas but keep in mind that our desire to paint can sometimes be outweighed by our ability to make it look the way we want it to look. So I think like our other friend that going to a craft shop and buying some premade forms of some-kind might be the better part of creativity for you. You could outline a plastic made flower with pencil and then paint it in with a acrylic paint. I would look to mix white into whatever color you are using so that it is not transparent or use a couple of coats of acrylic (one on top of the other after it has dried) so the under painting doesn't show through. Or if you have a good idea of what you want to do make a pencil sketch on a drawing pad for practice and then use that drawing to copy from when you draw on the wall before you actually paint. Once you paint it's a little tough to fix it up, so better to figure out just what flowers and other designs you want to paint before you do so, especially if it's on something nice that you don't want to go over and over on and mess it up.

Well good luck painting, there are plenty of ideas for flower forms in craft books in a craft store, and it doesn't cost to just look and browse the craft books in a store.
Reply:I really hate to burst your bubble....but if this mural was done by a professional and you trace fairies and paint them in....it could seriously take away from the quality of the mural itself.

Most of the time a professional artist arranges things...shall we say compositionally and one more thing, or one less thing could be a very serious blow to the affectiveness of the painting. Like I said, I hate to burst you bubble, but consider what I have stated above....sorry...but good luck and God bless....
Reply:Just because you had a mural done, it doesn't mean that you have the right to deface it. Shame on you.
