HELP! How do you get a hummingbird out of a skylight?

There is a poor little hummingbird stuck in the skylight in my dads garage, we put a red box and some flowers on the floor beneath him but he doesn't seem to notice. He perches against the wall and every couple seconds he buzzes around and hits the skylight and if we get close he starts cheeping, any suggestions on how to get him down??

open the door and leave the house or room. shut the doors to other parts of the house if you can. you standing around will only make it more nervous. give it time to settle down and he will start to explore more. eventually he will find the open door window etc.
Reply:Last summer when one got into my kitchen skylight, I got up on a ladder with an open paper bag, got the mouth of the bag over the bird as soon as it stayed still, pushed the bag against the wall so the bird couldn't get out, then reached up and slowly closed the mouth of the bag. Then I took it outside and set the bag on the deck, opened it, and shortly after the bird flew away. Maybe I was lucky there but it was easy.
Reply:With your hands. Their teeth aren't too sharp!
